President and Co-Founder, Crazy Canuck Events Corporation

September 2011 to December 2018

Growing a company from the ground up, I steered operations and generated profits of over $1M in the first three years. I oversaw budgets of up to $6M, tactfully controlling costs and allocating funds to achieve successful operations. I also developed business plans and collaborated with government agencies to ensure full compliance with local regulations. Managing a team of up to 50 individuals, I offered guidance and mentorship on standards, objectives, and operations and handled all human resources functions including hiring, recruitment, employee relations, training, development, terminations, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, I ensured a cohesive, collaborative, and positive work environment, empowering staff to achieve their personal and professional goals.

 

Some of my key contributions are as follows:

 

  • Conceptualized, planned, and executed a highly successful national event series, titled Mud Hero, ranking as the largest Canadian mud obstacle course event despite American competition and strict budgets.

  • Cut costs by 20% through strategic negotiations with suppliers and venues.

  • Headed sales, sponsorship and marketing efforts, resulting in increased revenue, brand awareness, and public visibility.

Custom Application Developer/Business Intelligence Specialist/Sales Specialist, IBM Canada

May 2000 to January 2012

Here, I moved through numerous technical, business intelligence, sales operations, and sales roles. I developed new business processes, demonstrating a thorough understanding of business challenges to craft valuable solutions. I also oversaw a team of up to 10 individuals and motivated them to achieve targets.


Some of my key contributions are as follows:


  • Showcased technical acumen to steer troubleshooting, root-cause analyses, and process changes to facilitate operational efficiency and productivity.

  • Steered projects from conceptualization to delivery across various business functions, effectively galvanizing teams, managing resources, tracking progress, resolving issues, and delivering results on time and under budget.

  • Achieved customer satisfaction and sales quotas by employing persuasive communication skills and articulating the features and benefits of products and services to guide customers through sales.

  • Improved workforce and shared knowledge and insights by leading training and education of new hires and delivering presentations at events.

E-Commerce Specialist, Kubra Data Transfer

January 1999 to April 2000

As an e-commerce specialist, I developed and maintained e-commerce solutions for over 50 companies requiring global-scale capabilities. I coordinated administration, quality control, and error investigation of automated EDI and e-commerce systems. I also delivered second-level technical support, defined technical and business requirements, created concrete solutions, and implemented product line. One highlight was cutting response time by 25% leading to increased customer satisfaction. I also led efforts to improve quality of deliverables resulting in reduced calls and complaints.

In addition, I have over 20 years experience providing medical first response team leadership to a number of different sports and sporting events - including skiing, mountain biking, marathons and adventure racing to name a few.
